Shaman Effigy Vessel probably made by the Chorotega people. The Chorotega are a people from Central America. It was the largest and most developed ethnic group in pre-Columbian Costa Rica and Nicaragua. The Chorotega belonged to the Mesoamerican cultural region. A small portion of the Chorotega survives to this day in Nicaragua and northwestern Costa Rica. This Pataky ceramic type portrays a seated shaman transformed into his/her jaguar spirit companion form.
