Eastern European decorative egg
Hand made Easter egg in traditional eastern European folk style.
The beautiful, hand decorated Easter egg or Pysanky is decorated in a geometric pattern made out of tiny glass beads. It has the size of a goose egg and because of its weight I think the base of this egg is made out of wood.
The Pysanky style is one of the traditional crafts in Ukraine with a history of more than 1000 years.
The word "pysanka" is derived from the verb "pysaty", which means "to write".
The method is similar to the batik pattern. The Easter eggs have a pattern painted with wax. This is to protect the places where no drawing is made. Repeats create a multicolored pattern.
Now the wax is removed, revealing the colors that were covered at each step.
